How VortexChain works

In 2025, physicists discovered that entangled photons carrying orbital angular momentum contain hidden 48-dimensional topological structures. We turned those structures into a blockchain.

Start with physics

Forbes et al. showed that entangled OAM photon pairs harbor 48D topological manifolds with wrapping numbers on 24 embedded spheres. These invariants are protected by the continuity of physical space — no algorithm can fake them.

Build cryptographic primitives

We map data to manifold points, compute wrapping-number spectra for hashing, use 6D projections as public keys with 48D points as private keys, and derive signatures from zero-knowledge topology proofs.

Run the chain

Blocks contain topologically-signed transactions. Validators stake $VORTEX and solve topology challenges. Smart contracts execute on the Qudit VM. Entropy comes from quantum oracle consensus.

The protocol is designed to transition seamlessly. When photonic OAM hardware matures, nodes swap in real entangled photons — the same API, now backed by actual quantum states. Security gets stronger, not weaker.

  • 24 wrapping numbers — a topological DNA sequence that cannot be duplicated by any continuous deformation
  • Computed rarity — spectral entropy of the wrapping distribution, not arbitrary trait rolls
  • Fusion / breeding — combine two VRC-48s to create a child with inherited topology. Parents are locked. The child is guaranteed unique.
  • Physical verification — with OAM hardware, shine a laser and prove authenticity. Digital ownership meets physical reality.
  • 6D searchable projection — efficient similarity queries across entire collections

Metadata can be stripped. AI detection is an arms race. VRC-48M binds provenance to the content itself through topological invariants that survive compression but break under manipulation.

Topological Perceptual Binding

Every frame gets a 48-element perceptual fingerprint — spatial gradients, DCT frequencies, optical flow, chromatic signatures. These map directly to points on the 48D manifold. The wrapping-number spectrum becomes a tamper-evident seal.

Re-encode, resize, recolor? Wrapping numbers don't change — topological invariance. Swap a face, splice frames, regenerate a scene? The spectrum breaks — frame-level detection.

Not an arms race. Wrapping numbers are non-differentiable — zero gradient almost everywhere. Generative AI literally cannot optimize to preserve them.
